The F-14 Tomcat is an American supersonic, twin-engine, two-seat, variable-sweep wing fighter aircraft developed by Grumman. The F-14 entered service in 1974 and was used by the US Navy until its retirement in 2006. The aircraft was famously featured in the 1986 film Top Gun. Currently, the F-14 is operated by the Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force (IRIAF), which acquired the aircraft before the 1979 Iranian Revolution.
