The S-500 Prometheus is a Russian long-range air defense system developed by Almaz-Antey. It entered service with the Russian Aerospace Forces in 2021 and is designed to intercept aircraft, ballistic missiles and other aerial targets. The S-500D in the game is a fictional variant: the real S-500 is radar-guided and carries no nuclear warhead, whereas the in-game missile is depicted as laser-guided and armed with a tactical nuclear warhead.
