USS California (CGN-36) was a nuclear-powered guided missile cruiser of the United States Navy. Commissioned in 1974, it was the lead ship of the California-class cruisers. The ship participated in various operations, including the failed attempt to rescue hostages during the Iran Hostage Crisis, before being decommissioned in 1999. Some of the ship's weapon systems are fictional additions for gameplay purposes.
