WZ-9 Harbin

The Harbin Z-9 (NATO reporting name: Haitun, meaning dolphin) is a Chinese military utility helicopter built by Harbin Aircraft Manufacturing Corporation, a license-built version of the French Eurocopter AS365 Dauphin. It first flew in 1981, and the largely Chinese-built Z-9B entered People's Liberation Army service in 1994. WZ-9 is an alternative designation for the Z-9W, an armed variant with pylon-mounted armament and a roof-mounted sight, fielded from the early 1990s as a stopgap during development of the Z-10 attack helicopter.
