RF Burevestnik (Project 905) is based on the general design of the Soviet KM ekranoplan, a ground-effect vehicle designed in the 1960s and 1970s, also known as the Caspian Sea Monster. The ekranoplan was designed to fly just above the water surface, using the ground effect to achieve high speeds. The design in the game is a fictional modernization of the ekranoplan, featuring modern weapons and systems.
