USS Spruance (DD-963) was the lead ship of the Spruance-class destroyers of the United States Navy. Commissioned in 1975, the ship was named after Admiral Raymond A. Spruance, a US commander in the Pacific theater during World War II. It served in the 1991 Persian Gulf War and was decommissioned in 2005. The following year, it was sunk as a target during a training exercise. In the game, the ship is depicted with three main guns, whereas the real Spruance carried only two 127 mm guns.
