Concept/Prototype
The DDX is the Italian Navy's next-generation destroyer program, meant to replace the two Durand de la Penne-class destroyers, which date from the early 1990s. The program is being developed by Orizzonte Sistemi Navali (OSN), a joint venture between Fincantieri and Leonardo, with the DDX planned as an evolution of the FREMM EVO design. The first ships are expected to enter service during the 2030s.
