JS Hayabusa (PG-824) is the lead ship of the Hayabusa-class guided missile patrol boats of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF). It was one of two boats added to the 1999 budget after an incident with a North Korean spy ship off the Noto Peninsula, and it was commissioned in 2002. The class is still active, but the JMSDF plans to replace it with the Sakura-class offshore patrol vessels, the first of which are due to enter service in 2027.
