USS Independence (LCS-2)

USS Independence (LCS-2) was the first of the Independence-class littoral combat ships, a United States Navy design for fast, shallow-draft warships intended to operate close to shore. The Navy's littoral combat ship (LCS) program produced two rival designs: the Independence-class trimaran developed by the General Dynamics consortium and built by Austal, and the Freedom-class monohull designed by Lockheed Martin, which also appears in the game as USS Fort Worth (LCS-3). Independence was built at Austal USA's shipyard in Mobile, Alabama, commissioned in 2010 and decommissioned in 2021.
