The BGM-109 Tomahawk is an American long-range cruise missile developed for the United States Navy. It was introduced in 1983 and is launched from surface ships and submarines. Although it is marketed as a precision weapon, the Tomahawk has been used in attacks widely described as war crimes, such as the 1998 destruction of the Al-Shifa pharmaceutical factory in Sudan and the 2026 strike on an elementary school in Minab, Iran.
