Historical information
Real
USS Kidd (DDG-993) led the Kidd-class of guided-missile destroyers. Derived from the Spruance-class, the class incorporated enhanced air-defense capabilities and was originally ordered by the Shah of Iran. Following the 1979 Iranian Revolution, the ship was not delivered to Iran and instead entered U.S. Navy service in 1981. It was named for Rear Admiral Isaac C. Kidd, who was killed during the attack on Pearl Harbor.
