First I want to apologize for the delay in releasing this article. The motherboard of my desktop PC broke and because I use this computer for recording and editing video, this has delayed updates to MW Stats. The component in question is still being repaired but I have found a workaround to record the necessary footage for new camos. Hopefully, I will get my desktop computer working again soon so I can return to my old workflow!

Now, let’s talk about the new update! The first Modern Warships update of 2024 (v0.75) introduces a new Battle Pass season called Frozen Gale. It contains a new valuable ship, weapons, aircraft, and customization items like camouflages and avatars. We have updated MW Stats with the latest data and statistics. Below you will find everything new in the update. If you find an item you are interested in, click the card to view detailed statistics.

Ships

USS Long Beach (CGN-9)

This month’s free battle pass ship is the USS Long Beach, the first nuclear-powered cruiser in the world. It’s a fan favorite (that includes me) due to its distinctive cube-shaped superstructure. The box shape is due to the SCANFAR radar system which was new and experimental at the time.

While in real life the ship is somewhat old, built in the 50s, in the game it has received various upgrades that make it viable in tier III. Four total missile slots give it a lot of firepower and the dual-purpose guns can be used to shoot down air targets in addition to enemy ships. However, there’s no free cannon slot.

The air defenses are also mediocre. While the RIM-66E twin-arm launchers (upgraded from those on USS Kidd) have a lot of range, there’s only two of them. There are also only two slots for freely selectable air defense systems. Finally, three grenade launchers and one torpedo slot give the ship some ability to fight off submarines.

All in all, the ship has definitely a very unique historical design and competitive stats. Also, it’s nice to finally see a cruiser as part of the free Battle Pass.

Aircraft

MiG-41M Super Fulmar

This Russian aircraft is a strike version of the MiG-41 fighter that already exists in the game. In addition to surface targets, this plane can deal a lot of damage to any enemy plane or helicopter that gets in its way. It’s part of the VIP pass.

NH-90 NHF

This European helicopter carries torpedo armaments for enhanced ASW capability. It’s the first item in the game that features the European Union flag. You’ll need to VIP Battle Pass for this helicopter.

Weapons

Bofors L/50 (120mm)

This Swedish cannon joins the long lineup of Bofors cannons in the game. It functions similarly to stock rare cannons in the game like Mark-45-Mod 4, AK-130, and HPJ-38 because it fires 4 rounds in a burst and has a comparatively low reload time. However, it has higher burst damage and DPM compared to those weapons. This cannon is a VIP Battle Pass reward.

C-AS

The C-AS is a grenade launcher developed by the Zionist entity. Visually, it resembles the Iron Dome missile defense system used by the Israeli army to intercept rockets fired by Gaza resistance groups like the Qassam Brigades and the Saraya Al-Quds.

What makes this grenade launcher special is that it fires guided shells like PKX-B or SR-5 122/300. However, in addition to surface targets, C-AS can also destroy aircraft. The downside is that because it requires a lock-on, it’s unable to combat enemy submarines or torpedoes. This grenade launcher is part of the Premium Battle Pass.

Camouflages

Nordic Nobility

The Nordic Nobility camouflage has viking runes that glow with an animated effect. A VIP Battle Pass is required to obtain this camo.

Quintessence

This red and fiery camo has an interesting effect: the lava pattern slightly changes depending on from which angle you look at the camouflage from. This is a premium Battle Pass reward.

Reptile

This camouflage is based on a multi-colored lizard or snake skin. It does not have an animated effect. This is the free Battle Pass reward.

Single-color camouflages

In addition to the Battle Pass camouflages, new single-color camouflages have been added to the game. These can be purchased in the camouflage shop using gold. The colors are: White, Gray, Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple, and Beige.

Avatars

Three new player avatars have been added in the Battle Pass.

Egor Gusev (Premium Battle Pass)

Nashua Hammington (Free Battle Pass)

Claude Delaunay (Premium Battle Pass)

Flags

Finally, a new flag has been added to the game: The Islamic Republic of Iran.
