USS DDG(X)

The DDG(X) is the U.S. Navy's planned next-generation guided-missile destroyer program, intended to replace the Ticonderoga-class cruisers and older Arleigh Burke-class destroyers. After the CG(X) cruiser was cancelled and the Zumwalt-class destroyer order was cut back, the Navy began the Large Surface Combatant (LSC) effort that became DDG(X). The Department of Defense announced in December 2025 that DDG(X) would be replaced by the new Trump-class guided-missile battleships. The destroyer program still received research and development funding in early 2026, while the battleship awaited approval from Congress.
