The September 2024 Modern Warships update is known as “Nuclear Nebula” and the version number is v0.83. In addition to the new Battle Pass season with new ships, planes, and weapons, this update brings remastered maps and ship models. Let’s dive into the changes!

Map changes

The map Unexplored Rocks has been overhauled in this update with brand-new graphics and improved geometry. However, the general layout and spawn points remain the same. Some minor fixes have also been made to Greenlands and Arid Frontier.

Model updates

Following the updated models added in the last update, this version brings three new remastered ships, this time American. The USS Fort Worth (LCS-3), USS Independence (LCS-2) and USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN-78) have been updated with improved textures and details.

To compare the old and new models for all the remastered ships, watch the video below.

Ships

RF TARK Kirov

The RF TARK Kirov joins the RF TARK Pyotr Velikiy and RF Admiral Nakhimov in the Kirov class of nuclear-powered missile cruisers. While the Pyotr Velikiy can be purchased in the shop for gold and Admiral Nakhimov for dollars, the Kirov is a Battle Pass ship.

The overall statistics are similar to its sister ships but where Kirov differentiates itself is the armament. It retains the three missile points and three grenade launchers but adds one extra cannon, bringing the number of total cannons to two. If you equip this ship with an epic or legendary cannon, it can deal some serious damage in one salvo. However, the ship lacks torpedo slots seen on Pyotr Velikiy.

Another special weapon on the S-300F Fort locked missile-based air defense system (this was in real life present on all Kirov class ships). This in addition to a total of 8 free air defense slots makes this ship effective at repelling enemy air threats.

The RF TARK Kirov is an interesting addition to the existing lineup of cruisers in the game with its own special weapons. You can get this ship for free by completing the September 2024 Battle Pass.

JARI USV

A new unmanned vehicle has been added to the game, the JARI USV. Unlike the previous unmanned underwater vehicles Type 101 and Type 102 which could operate underwater, this is a surface ship that works like a miniature frigate. It is also the first unmanned unit available in the shop: it can be purchased using gold bars.

The USV can damage enemy ships using missiles and torpedoes and even features an air defense system. However, due to its low health, it is an easy target for enemies. Unlike the Type 101 and Type 102 UUVs, it cannot submerge to protect itself. This means you need to play cautiously if you want the JARI USV to survive on the battlefield.

Aircraft

Phenom

The Phenom is the first unit in the game originating from the Gulf country UAE (United Arab Emirates). It is especially useful as a spotting aircraft due to its high speed and long spotting radius. However, its health is below average which means it can struggle in fights against enemies. It has a cannon that can also target aerial targets so it is capable of attacking enemy planes or helicopters. This helicopter’s special feature is the aviation reserve of two units, a first among helicopters. This means that even if your helicopter gets destroyed, you can summon another one and continue the fight. This helicopter is a reward in the VIP Battle Pass.

Weapons

P-750 Meteorit-M

The P-750 Meteorit-M can be launched underwater. However, it is not a ballistic missile like Bulava or Trident but a cruise missile like YJ-18B or Haeseong III. Stats-wise it is comparable to Haeseong III. However, unlike the former which is only available in a gacha, the P-750 Meteorit-M can be obtained by more players through the Battle Pass and later Market. While this missile may not be the best choice for surface vessels, submarine players will definitely appreciate the new addition. This missile battery can be obtained through the VIP Battle Pass.

Oerlikon GDF-4 (35 mm)

This rapid-firing Swiss cannon can destroy both surface and air targets and it is mounted in the ship’s main gun slot. It feels like the tier II Korkut-D, except more powerful in every way. There is no overheat mechanic either. While this cannon sports a large range, over 8 kilometers, hitting moving air targets this far away can be challenging. This cannon is a reward in the VIP Battle Pass.

HELMA-P

This laser-based French AA system provides decent firepower and a short reload at a limited 2.77 km range. This module is a Premium Battle Pass reward.

Camouflages

Fire Element

This camo makes your ship black, except for an image of a flaming Phoenix bird on the side of the ship. The camouflage will also cover the ship’s deck in flames. This is a VIP Battle Pass reward.

Air Element

This camouflage features a whale character on a sky background. The image fades between a day and a night scene. Premium Battle Pass item.

Earth Element

This camouflage depicts a rocky cliff without any fancy animation effects. This camo is a reward in the free Battle Pass.

Avatars

The following avatars are available in the Battle Pass. Like the skins, they are inspired by different elements.

Fire Warrior (Premium Battle Pass)

Air Warrior (Premium Battle Pass)

Earth Warrior (Free Battle Pass)

Flags

Four new national flags have been added to the store. You can buy them using gold in the shop and put them on your ship.
